The CZMP will provide the details about how Council will manage its responsibilities to achieve the objectives set out in the Community Strategic Plan for the coastal landscape and communities who live along or use the coast.
Step 1 in the process is to define how our local communities and visitors use our coastline. Council staff and an independent consultant, Umwelt Environmental, directly interviewed beach users over the Australia Day long weekend to capture the views of visitors and locals over a peak beach usage period. The primary aim of the survey is to gain an understanding of the issues that are important in maintaining access to our beaches and headlands.
Council have also prepared an online survey to capture residents that may not have been at the beach over the long weekend. The online survey will remain open until the end of February to give residents plenty of time to log-on and contribute. Council encourage our members to take the time to fill in the survey and contribute to how our coastline is managed.
The survey and additional details on why Council is preparing the plan can be found on the consultant’s project website at:
Eurobodalla Coastal Zone Management Plan
Additional consultation activities will occur as the project progresses over the next twelve months. These activities will include public meetings at locations throughout the Shire to ensure each community can progress their separate issues. We will advise the community in advance to give everyone an opportunity to attend these meetings when they occur.
