FootPath Update & RiffWizz Wrap

Mossy Point Footpath Update

Following on from our last meeting we have met with Greg Miller who is Divisional Manager of Technical Services at Council.  We discussed the new pathway at Mossy Point and Greg has explained the reasons why a wider shared pathway is not feasible in this location. The terrain and existing underground services make it prohibitively expensive to achieve a wider pathway.  Most of you would have noticed that work has commenced on this project and it is hopeful that it will be completed before Christmas. The new footpath has an improved 1.5m width when compared to the existing path coming up Beach Street from the bridge. I feel that, while this is not part of our shared pathway project, it is still a big safety improvement for the community. A big thanks to Greg for his time to discuss the project.

We will be meeting with council this week to discuss the wider Community Association priorities. We have also been contacted from some of the local sporting groups who have raised the capacity problems at Captain Oldrey Park with Council. We have invited representatives from these sporting groups to join the association so that we can provide a broader perspective on issues arising in our community. We will keep you informed of any outcomes from these meetings.

RiffWizz Wrap

What a great night! Chris Catt did a great job – the idea, the band to play live riffs and generous prize donations. We partnered with Broulee Surf Club and benefited from their organising abilities as well as sharing ticket sales. Thanks to Damien Coen for his opening songs and to Chris who led the band with flair. Michael Evans and Peter Haselden kept the night flowing with their excellent MC abilities. The scoring committee was kept busy as was the bar.

BMPCA made $2007 from ticket sales, raffles and donations, which goes into the Shared Pathways account.

Thanks to Tomakin IGA for the hampers to raffle.

Thanks too, to all those who participated in a very happy night.
