The BMPCA meeting clashed with the Climate Conundrum Forum at St Peters College.

Correspondence
Letter from Allan Jevons seeking BMPCA support for ESC to amend angle of footpath at top of hill at Annetts Parade/Coronation Drive intersection. It is particularly dangerous for mobility scooters. BMPCA supports Council finding a solution to the matter which has been raised on a number of occasions by BMPCA members in the past.

Treasurer’s Report
$1,005 in Pathway account
$6, 492.68 in General account. This includes refund from Council for fees charged by Department of Lands for Sandcastle Competition and 2019 membership fees which are due.

General Business

• ESC 2019/2020 Budget available for public comment. $50,000 earmarked for trail through the Captain Oldrey Park bushland. BMPCA Captain Oldrey Park subcommittee carried out a walk through at the end of March with Emma Patyus (ESC Landcare Co-ordinator) which identified an environmentally sensitive trail and possible areas for seating. BMPCA will need to keep pressure on ESC to ensure that identified trail minimises damage to vegetation.
• Secretary met with Banksia CEO to identify linkages to the village. The footpath from Heath Street into Grant Street on the western side was raised as presently Banksia residents need to cross the road twice when visiting the Post Office. President has discussed this path with ESC Director Engineering, which would require removal of oleanders, of which there was little concern. ESC to prepare costing so that BMPCA can consider contribution. Banksia has committed to a contribution of funds.
• Proposed seat at Heath Street and Grant Street intersection was also raised. ESC is currently refurbishing street seats and it will advise when available.
• Stormwater ponding at western corner of Grant Street and Broulee Road intersection after rain needs assessment.
• Ongoing issue of Lake Broulee stormwater ponding raised. ESC is looking at solutions which do not involve drainage to the heavily used Candlagan Creek beach.
• Concern about graffiti on shared pathway north of area where donated bricks are located. Also, issue about sand and vegetation encroaching on bricks.
• BMPCA Executive met with ESC General Manager and Directors as part of annual discussions about local matters. Considerable disagreement with Council about zoning of private land west of Captain Oldrey Park. Broulee Development Plan identifies this as open space but ESC maintain that it is zoned residential. Agreed that letter should be sent to the Minister for Planning outlining BMPCA concerns.
• Letter received from David Hunter (ESC) concerning relocation and replacement of bus shelter at North Broulee. Members agreed that it is currently a difficult location for path users. Work is expected early in June. A number of issues in the general North Broulee area were raised including the unstable steps to the viewing platform, poor drainage at the shower which leads to sand buildup and visitors then washing their feet in the dog water at the water station (which then fills up with sand) and stormwater ponding at the corner of Coronation and Candlagan Drives after heavy rain. It was agreed that BMPCA should write to ESC to see if some of these matters can be addressed at the same time as the bus shelter construction.
• Broulee to Breakers Swim in March achieved record number of swimmers. Thanks to all BMPCA members who helped with various tasks, particularly registration and finishing. Swim committee is looking at a different approach to handling the finish as numbers increase which will mean that BMPCA will need more helpers on 8 March 2020. A cheque for $5000 will be sent to BMPCA for its help – definitely our best annual money raiser!
• Landcare to inspect outbreak of spreading Gazanias in Iluka Street and Zanthus Drive as well as sand and vegetation covering pathway bricks.
• General concern about the size of Eurobodalla Shire Council and the number of business activities where Council is competing with the private sector. What happened to roads, rates and rubbish?
